Easy Model Railroad Wiring, Second Edition (Model Railroader)ReviewsThis is a must have book for any model railroader. It is well researched and I have recommended it to others. It will help you with electrical wiring problems you encounter on you railroad layout or keep you from making mistakes. Thanks again Andy on helping to revive my 35 year old Mantua 0-4-0. I'm just getting started on my first non-oval layout and this book is invaluable. Contains all the basics and stuff you'll probably want to know when you get fancier. I started out with a DC train set under the christmas tree about two years ago and now I'm diving into DCC. I wish the book had more on computer control and wiring occupany detection but still it's a very good starting point. The book will answer all my questions nicely. Thank You Jim Murphy Requires electrical and soldering knowledge. Younger individuals may require supervision. Excellent ideas for creating personal layouts. Average Rating:![]() |

Wiring Basics (Easy Model Railroading)ReviewsThis book serves a need but it does not serve that need very far. It was never intended to do so. The need is the teaching of people new to model railroading about the rudiments of electricity and wiring. It covers the basics and makes no pretense about going any further. This book is intended for somebody who is essentially clueless about electricity. Since model railroads need electricity, the need for this sort of introduction is present. I suspect, though, that a more thorough treatment would be more helpful. The information that is provided is good. It is clear, adequately illustrated and well written. Particularly useful would be the basic processes of how to use the "tools of the trade". It may well indeed prove useful for somebody just starting out. Still, there are other books out there that will give more information but just a bit more money. This book will help somebody go to the stage past wiring a circle of track to orbit the Christmas tree but will no go much further. Average Rating:![]() |
